I WOLVES AT THE GATE hanno annunciato la pubblicazione del loro quinto album “Eulogies”, previsto per l’11 marzo via Solid State Records. Il gruppo ha inoltre pubblicato il video associato al singolo “Lights & Fire”, un pezzo dinamica che vanta ritornelli di grande presa un crescendo epico.
“While all of these songs were quite personal for me, this one held a different weight, as it related to a number of the most painful parts of my life. It showed me how I was holding onto things that were actually destructive to me”, spiega il cantante e chitarrista Steve Cobucci “It was the first time that I truly felt alone. I had to end a relationship that I put a lot of hope in. Soon afterward, I got robbed. My laptop, recording gear, guitars, amps — all gone. I didn’t have the money to replace things. Soon after, I tore my ACL and meniscus, which was a blow to my aspirations to play soccer for a living. All these things combined left me feeling abandoned and asking, ‘What did I do to deserve this? Why me?'”
Ma l’unica via d’uscita è trarre spunto dalle proprie esperienze, come Cobucci spiega: “What was revealed was an old truth I had known but didn’t realise how I fell prey to it. ‘Where treasure is, there will your heart be also'”.
Senza porsi problemi inerenti all’etichettare la propria musica e determinati ad alzare il livello album dopo album, i Wolves At The Gate fanno della loro musica un messaggio con un fermo impegno per passione e autenticità. Cercando instancabilmente la luce in un’oscurità apparentemente opprimente, il gruppo post-hardcore del Midwest bilancia melodia e classico chitarristi metal.
“Eulogies” è un disco nato dalla riflessione, dall’introspezione e dall’isolamento. Il gruppo dell’Ohio ha costruito le basi per le tredici canzoni dell’album durante la pandemia, dando forma a canzoni decisamente diverse tra di loro, come “Shadows”, “Peace That Starts The War” e “No Tomorrow”.
